GCRF Interdisciplinary Research Hubs

Research Councils UK invites proposals from eligible UK research organisations to establish and lead a number of challenge-led and impact-focused GCRF Interdisciplinary Research Hubs which meet the aims of Official Development Assistance.

The Intention to Submit survey must be completed by 29th September 2017. Outline proposals must be submitted via Je-S by 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) on 9th November 2017

Five UK Research Centres Form Alliance to Develop Bioeconomy

Five established research centres across the UK have formed a new alliance seeking to position Britain as a global leader in biorefining technology development and bio-based product manufacture. The founding centres of the BioPilotsUK projects are BEACON (Wales), the Biorenewables Development Centre (BDC – York), the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI – Redcar), IBioIC (Scotland), and The Biorefinery Centre (Norwich).

Metals in Biology BBSRC NIBB Community Meeting

19-20 December 2016,  Durham Marriott Hotel Royal County

This was a great opportunity for the many metals-related communities that have developed during the BBSRC NIBB to meet.  There were over 90 delegates registered for the event including academics and companies.

Early Stage Career Researchers Industrial Biotechnology Skills Conference and Workshop

18-19 May 2016, Manchester

The Metals in Biology Network is contributing to a joint Networks Industrial Biotechnology skills conference for early stage career researchers which is being organised by Cogent SSC Ltd and will take place in Manchester Macdonald Hotel on 18-19th May 2016.

This event will be free to attend and accommodation for the night of May 18th is included

Those attending will be responsible for any travel and subsistence costs incurred to the point of their arrival at the event’s venue and for their return journey at the end of the event
